Notes the on the challenges and a little cultural information about the movie.
In Indian culture, it is believed that women have inherent capacity to solve life's big problems with a simple approach. Aneesh, in "Ek Sadha Prashna" is ready to accept his step-mom but he wants to know what he should call her. Nobody else in his small world can answer this question but his step-mom suggests a simple solution that makes Aneesh happy.
As with any fictional work, I found the germ of this story in a real life situation around me and then it was transformed into a story for the movie.

While planning, we never imagined the challenges in using the sync-sound method. Since the movie was shot on location, simple ambient sounds (of cars, dogs, trains and airplanes) were loud enough to force a retake after retake. Other sounds which we don't even notice in the routine life played a havoc while shooting.
Lesson learned: Plan double the amount of time if you have any outdoor shots!

"Ek Sadha Prashna" is a story of young boy Aneesh (8). Abhiraam Wadekar who played this character was extremely talented and quickly responded to instructions. Between the shots, Abhiraam was allowed to play games on his GameBoy to keep him busy and interested. When the team was ready for the shot, it was a challenge to distract him from the game and to make him focus on the scene.
Abhiraam was very keen on understanding the process of shooting. He asked umpteen questions about how the scenes will be put together when we used multiple locations for shooting. It was tough to satisfy his curiosity!
Pooja Deshmukh played a role of Rakhee, Aneesh's friend. She is very playful and got along with Abhiraam quickly. Both, Pooja and Abhiraam cooperated very well and gave the take after take without any complaint.
